Con Artist Trickster - Wau2X

Actually I wanna give the title "Wau@X", but since the character "@" is not acceptable, I gotta be satisfied with "2". It's one of my oldest songs. I wrote it like 8 years ago. Back then, I was trying to make a sounds-like-punk song. The tempo wasn't this fast when I played it with my band, but now I got a computer-operated drummer, so why not pushing it a little bit. The chord proggression hasn't change a bit, only the sound had major changes. Among the sounds offered by FL Slayer, these ones gave the best accent and character, though they still kind of flaw. Moreover, the bass parts in the chorus are difficult to notice. AND TOO MUCH CYMBALS, wAY TOO MUCH.
I wanted to make corrections, but I lost my FL file. (Hmmph...another excuse).

"Prairie", I entitled this song that simply because I (accidentally) managed the WASP sounds like flowing water during adding some effects to the song. I planned on making a kind of new age song, like the ones in the Inspirational Moment albums. (I have a certain fondness to that kind of music, though not all of them). Skimming through various sounds, I put my ears on the sitar sound. It's amazing, I thought. Moving forward, this small and amateurish mind needed to figure out the melody. I never learned any scales, I ended up running wildly on the piano bar. Put this some notes on, pulled them here and there. Hit them one by one, until finally the raw picture of the notes appeared. I copied the notes for the bass-line with slight variations, and it copped well enough. Then it came to the drums. I've tried several loops, but none worked well. So I made this one. Kind of funny beats. I don't know whether I counted correctly.
But, overall, it reflects a serene thing, right? (Or is it just me?) Because I think it does, the tittle "Prairie" won't be so misplaced I guess.

Con Artist Trickster - Peace, Bro!

The first part I found for this song is the bass sequencer. I didn't think much (as always), I just loved how it sounded and hit a couple of notes. I started to feel it a little bit like the early 90's pop/dance/disco sound. Whatsoever...But the notes I've already hit and recorded was mmmm ...how to put...) kind of solitary or distance call thoughts. Then, after scrapping through couple of instruments, I decided piano and old organ served me the best sound. They sounded old, far, and peculiar. I added strange tones and trumpet, for it always brings stronger tone. When it came to the groove part, bass and drum,....it's all I could manage to do. All those up-beat-band-like pattern came across my mind. Especially the bass lines, where I tried to make variations (weird and weirder every time) but they still did not sound right. Then, those simple-unstrummed-lines came. Before I got more and more confused, I just wrapped them up. The tittle. What should this song called? "Peace, Bro!" Yeah, why not? Amid those solitary and distance call thoughts, the best thing I could possibly do is keep calm, at peace. So. Peace, Bro!

PS.
One thing that disturbs me most in this song is the final mixing result.
I couldn't lift all the instruments sound in a flat level, and it sounds like from under ground or covered by something. Sooooo deep and foggy. I've tried to re-mix it, but douldn't do any better.
Well, it's the final result (maybe for now. Who knows I might get the best mix).

Amazing Grace (Originally a folk hymn, lyrics by John Newton)

I really like the melody of this song, even Elvis liked it too. I often heard it since I was,...mmm...., can't remember. Then I started to pay more attention to the melody after I heard Jeff Beck's version in Marry Axemas.

At first I thought it was a Christmas song, but a friend told me that actually it's a folk song, a hymn and the lyrics was written by John Newton. (Here for more info) The song tells about anti-slavery message: how a captain of slave delivery ship finally realized what he had done was a very evil deed. (There's a movie too about the creation of song, but I forgot the title).

About the song, it started with me just sitting in front my computer. I got the drum roll wav from AoE II and tried to make slight variations, here and there. I thought the atmosphere was a bit glorious, hymnic, and kind of longing, then the idea of using it for this song appeared. Sought for the best instruments, sound, and effects. I've tried to make an ensemble of trumpets and other wind instruments, but couldn't got it well with my FL.

So I ended up with those strange sounds. I put the robotic speech in random, sort of chaotic whispers and one them actually saying "I can't feel no better". I arranged them up and thought that would do for this version.
